Wholesale Faux Suede Fabric

Faux suede is made from polyester microfiber that’s woven into a soft, thin, but very tough fabric. Since China is the world’s biggest producer of polyester fibers, it’s also one of the biggest producers of faux suede. Other major manufacturers of polyester and faux suede include Taiwan, Korea, India, Japan, and Indonesia.

What is a faux suede fabric?

Suede is a high-quality leather that’s made from the underside of an animal hide. Lambskin is the most commonly used animal skin, but other kinds can be used as well, such as sheepskin, cowhide, and pigskin.

Even though suede is quite popular and well-noted for its high quality, some people don’t prefer to use it for two main reasons. First is the fact that suede can be very expensive, and the second reason is that some people prefer to use vegan alternatives. Luckily, there is a vegan alternative to suede, and that is the faux suede fabric.

Essentially speaking, faux suede is an artificial fabric made from polyester that’s designed to mimic the look of regular suede.

The Physical Properties of Faux Suede Fabric

More often than not, faux suede imitates its authentic counterpart pretty well — in fact, many people can’t tell the difference between the two at first glance. Faux suede is also quite soft and has a matte finish. This type of fabric has other characteristics that you can’t find in genuine suede. For one thing, faux suede is resistant to water and staining, and it also comes at an affordable price.

Despite all the positive characteristics, faux suede isn’t as durable as real suede, so you have to care for it well if you want it to last long.

What is a faux suede fabric used for?

Very much like genuine suede, faux suede is incredibly popular in the fashion industry. A few examples of garments that use faux suede include jackets, skirts, shoes, and accessories such as belts.

Aside from clothing, faux suede fabric has other applications. In particular, it can be used in furniture and home decorations, such as sofas, loveseats, and pillows.
