2024–2026 Fabric Regulations & Compliance Update
Coated and water-repellent military textiles are increasingly affected by PFAS controls. The proposed EU REACH universal PFAS restriction is not yet final law, but the updated dossier specifically brings military applications and technical textiles into the regulatory discussion. Fabrics using legacy fluorinated durable-water-repellent treatments, stain- or oil-repellent chemistry, or fluoropolymer membranes may require reformulation, disclosure, and updated testing. A supplier’s “C0” or “fluorine-free” statement should not replace lot-specific evidence because shared finishing equipment, coatings, auxiliaries, or membranes may introduce PFAS-related risk. Buyers should request current technical data, chemical declarations, production-line controls, membrane disclosure where relevant, and accredited testing for the finished material.

Military, workwear, coated-fabric, and recycled-polyester programs must also be evaluated within the broader 2024–2026 textile-compliance landscape. Requirements can vary according to destination market, whether the product is consumer clothing, professional workwear, personal protective equipment, technical textile, or military materiel, and whether environmental claims are made. Compliance should therefore be specified by SKU and end use.
